It’s time to take back your internet feed! As I mentioned yesterday, Facebook and Instagram are dying. If you want to decide for yourself what content you are getting, it’s time to revisit the good old RSS readers.
I’ve been using Feedly for years on my phone. In fact, it’s usually one of the first things I open. I’d recommend checking it out.
I’ve also heard good things about NewsBlur and Inoreader. There are options on there for live updates too, if that’s something you’re looking for. With all of these readers there are free tiers and paid ones if you really need more options.
Not only will using RSS readers help sort out internet noise for you, it will also help ensure that you’re seeing the creators you want to follow. No algorithms. No gatekeepers.
We had it right in the early 2000s. The old ways are best.
Just be sure to add my site to your feed!

Ha, I wept when my carefully curated and managed Google Reader went away.
“RSS is dying!” everyone said.
I remember they also said that about podcasts.
I started back up with Feedly last year. I also have this super high tech system of categorized bookmarks that I just go through each week to see what’s new. Old school is new school. At least I click through to what I want, see it when I want, without some algorithm hopping in.
Yeah, Google Reader was my go to back in the day. The challenge is still having to go out and get readers to our own sites. The same old problem.
