There’s a fine line between making what you want and making what your audience wants.
Ideally, the sweet spot is the overlap. If you can find it, you’re in the zone. But that spot can be elusive.
Often the best you can do is go back and forth. Make something just for you and then share it and see what happens. Then do something that’s solely for the purpose of helping your audience. That can be a tutorial or something else that’s more related to what you know they are already looking for.
By the way, the last one is how people amass huge followings. Marketing people (the ones with books, videos, and posts about how to promote and get followers) are the perfect example. Everyone comes to their content to see how to build their own audience. Then that marketer uses all those people as proof (to the same people) that their advice works.
But the elusive space where you and your audience overlap. That’s golden.
