
Most things I draw go nowhere. Even the things that only end up in art books are a fraction of what I draw. The majority just sit in sketchbooks and on hard drives.
Maybe one day some of them will spark an idea as I look over them, but probably not the case for 99% of them.
I would say it’s all practice, and that is what it ends up being as a by-product, but mostly it’s just compulsion. If there’s a pen and paper within reach it’ll be scribbled on.
There’s probably a term for it coined by some psychologist somewhere at an ivy league university with lots of letters by his name and a blue checkmark on his Twitter account.
