Aguilar embodied triumph against the odds in a stark way. Born in El Salvador’s San Miguel province in 1974, he fled the country in 1982 to avoid being drafted as a child soldier in the army. Growing up in East L.A., he dodged gang life to win scholarships to art schools. Intimidated by the test to join The Simpsons, he passed and went on to become a mainstay of the show.
Pioneering aerospace engineer and science-fiction writer Wernher von Braun may have predicted Elon Musk’s plan to colonize other worlds nearly 70 years ago when he described a man named “Elon” ruling over Mars.
Speaking of literary coincidences, the above reminds me of this one:
Then, suddenly it struck an iceberg on its starboard side while moving at 25 knots. The ship was 400 nautical miles from Newfoundland. The ship sank quickly, and due to an insufficient amount of lifeboats, it took a majority of its passengers with it. The story sounds familiar to anyone with even minor knowledge of the Titanic. However, that story above isn’t a description of what happened to the Titanic. This is actually the plot of a novel titled Futility which was released 14 years before the Titanic ever set sail.
