Wall-E might be my favorite Pixar film. Again, like with Carl from yesterday’s Up sketch, he’s a big square. But unlike Carl he’s a big loveable square. I think it’s the eyes, though, which are obviously…um…not square.
I’m not sure I liked yesterday’s watercolor experiment over Carl, so I won’t do it today. Although, I probably should use these sketches to get better at it. Today I just don’t have the time.
[…] This sketch was done with the Pentel Pocket Brush Pen, and it definitely flavors the drawing. It’s a good pen, but it can take a little getting used to if you use a regular brush a lot. The brush tip is pretty durable in that it doesn’t fray, but it does have this super fine point that extends just a little longer than is typical of a traditional brush. If you’re not careful you’ll find stray marks on your drawing. Once you get used to it there’s no problem and eventually you can use it for different effects. It’s pretty good for getting whisper thin lines. If you drag the edge of it, you can get some decent dry brush effects (which is how I did the rust and dirt on WALL-E the other day.) […]
